Celebrate History Week at Chatswood Library

Chatswood Library will host a special presentation and exhibition during History Week 2016, 3-11 September, offering a unique opportunity for the community to learn more about the rich and fascinating history of Willoughby.

Willoughby City Library’s Local Studies team will present highlights from the Library’s oral history collection, which encompasses more than 100 interviews spanning nearly 40 years. Dating back to the late 19th century, this collection is a rich and invaluable resource covering all aspects of life in Willoughby.

The People of Willoughby exhibition explores the individual and group changes that have produced the modern and varied community of Willoughby. 

In 1865 there were approximately 400 people living in the Willoughby area; by 2016, the populace had increased to 76,354! By examining demographics, discover how the community has grown and developed over the last 150 years.
