Lights On Competition Winner Announced for Vivid Sydney at Chatswood

18 May 2016

North Shore resident, Michael Moor has been named as the lucky winner of Willoughby Council’s Lights On competition, winning the opportunity to switch on the lights at Vivid Sydney at Chatswood when the world’s largest festival of light, music and ideas returns to Chatswood from 27 May - 13 June.

Michael will switch on the lights in a special event on Vivid Sydney at Chatswood’s first night at 5.30pm, Friday 27 May and also will be taken on a special preview tour through some of this year’s amazing light installations.

Michaels’ winning entry into the competition stated he was looking forward to Vivid Sydney at Chatswood because: “Chatswood already glows in a spectacular brightness by day but Vivid Sydney lights up the locality at night like nowhere else. With Vivid Sydney, Chatswood shines 24 hours a day.”

“Congratulations to Michael on winning this exciting opportunity to switch on the lights at this year’s Vivid Sydney at Chatswood. We wanted to give our community the chance to be involved, and let someone have the honour of turning on the lights on this special occasion,” Willoughby Mayor Gail Giles-Gidney said.

During Vivid Sydney, the bustling Chatswood CBD will be transformed into ‘WildLight – The Bio-Kinetic City’, an amazing collection of engaging installations and activities inspired by the fascinating creatures of Gondwana.

Visitors to Chatswood will take a technology-led journey into the past – stepping off the train at Chatswood Interchange into a world of projection, lighting effects and fantastic avian creatures. Continuing on to Westfield Chatswood, visitors will be dazzled by the vibrant digital animations of Neon Dino Nights. Prehistoric creatures in futuristic 3D animations will play across the façade of The Concourse and members of the public can become part of the experience by taking control of interactive mechanical dinosaur frames. Discover the Primordial Pond and see what’s lurking beneath. Vivid Sydney’s youngest patrons can create their own unique deep-sea adventure, playing with luminescent sea creatures in the Luminarium at Chatswood Chase Sydney by day.

Visitors are encouraged to stay a while to enjoy great shopping, dining and market stalls on offer as they wander through the Chatswood CBD, which is increasingly becoming known as a hotspot for Asian dining experiences.
