The Concourse Concert Hall, Chatswood

Revel in the unforgettable melodies and glorious harmonies of an expanded orchestra and choir in the Willoughby Symphony’s 2016 Season Finale concert, JOY.

Opening with Brahms’ uplifting Academic Festival Overture, the concert will follow with a thrilling performance of Mozart’s A major Piano Concerto that will see Chief Conductor and Artistic Director, Dr. Nicholas Milton AM joined by acclaimed pianist Kathy Selby AM on stage to perform this exquisite piece. Having performed together in the legendary Macquarie Trio, this is a musical reunion not to be missed!

Concluding with Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, a monumental work that reveals the hopes of humankind and occupies a unique place in global culture, JOY will be an unforgettable musical journey from darkness into light.

Hailed by the Australian press as a ‘formidable talent’ and ‘Australia’s pre-eminent chamber music pianist’, Kathy Selby AM is the Artistic Director and founder of both the popular nationally touring Selby & Friends concert series and A Little Lunch Music at Sydney’s City Recital Hall. In 2013 she was appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia and is the recipient of both the prestigious Churchill and Australia Council Fellowships.

“JOY will be a spectacular finale to our 2016 Subscription Series, and a fitting climax to what has been another sensational year for the amazing Willoughby Symphony,” said Dr. Nicholas Milton AM. “I am also so thrilled to be reuniting in this concert with my former musical partner of so many years, Kathy Selby. Performing with her again will surely be a very special highlight for me personally and I am looking forward to it very much,” he said.
