Popular ABC Radio broadcaster, Richard Fidler, will speak about his new book, Ghost Empire at Chatswood Library on The Concourse this July.

Fired by his passion for the rich history of the Byzantine Empire, Richard and his son journeyed to Istanbul with the ambition of walking the entire length of the Land Walls of Constantinople - from the sea of Marmara to the Golden Horn where the Roman Empire died in the most bizarre and dramatic siege in medieval history.

Centred on the legendary Constantinople, Ghost Empire delves into some of the most extraordinary tales in history; the clash of civilizations, the fall of empires, the rise of Christianity, revenge, lust and murder. Turbulent stories from the past are brought vividly to life at the same time as Richard navigates the unfolding changes in his relationship with his son.

Richard Fidler presents Conversations with Richard Fidler, an in-depth interview program broadcast across Australia on ABC Radio and is the most popular podcast in Australia, with over a million downloaded programs every month. In another life, Richard was a member of Australian comedy trio The Doug Anthony Allstars, which played to audiences all over the world.

Lindfield Bookshop will provide copies of the book for sale and signing on the day.
