Three playground upgrades complete - Council continues its commitment to parks and recreation improvements
24 May 2016
Willoughby Council has recently completed three playground projects, as part of its $ 1.7 million funding for park and playground upgrades in the 2015/16 financial year.
The works include a new playground at Kenneth Slessor Park, Chatswood with an embankment slide and arched net climber. The playground compliments other upgrades at the Park including new paths, seating walls, furniture, artwork and planting.
Warrane Reserve, Chatswood has also received a new playground area that features a basket swing, climbing net, musical pipes, embankment slide, sandstone stepping stones and frog sculpture.
The existing playground at Marlow St Reserve, Artarmon has received upgrades including a replacement 5 metre embankment slide, a new timber tepee, and planting.
“It’s fantastic to see this most recent lot of playground works complete and ready to be enjoyed by local children and their families. Maintaining and improving our beautiful parks and playgrounds has been a focus for Council, so our community can continue enjoying Willoughby’s outdoor living spaces now and into the future,” said Willoughby Mayor, Gail Giles-Gidney.
The playground upgrades are part of Council’s commitment to maintaining assets including parks, sportsgrounds and outdoor living spaces for current and future community use, with the projects funded by Council’s Infrastructure Levy.
