Willoughby Leisure Centre Award Win: Swim School Supervisor honoured with AUSTWIM award
14 March 2017
Willoughby Leisure Centre’s Aquatic Programs Supervisor Kaylyn Tomkinson has been awarded the 2016 NSW AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety Award at this year’s AUSTSWIM Water Safety Awards.
The AUSTWIM awards identify and honour individual AUSTSWIM Teachers, Presenters and Recognised Swim Centres from across the country for their respective contributions to aquatic education and water safety.
Kaylyn has been an integral part of the Willoughby Leisure Centre team since 2015 and has helped to implement new initiates and programs at the centre’s Swim School including the Royal Life Saving's Swim and Survive program. This program provides clear swim progressions for teachers to follow and offers not only a swim program but a water safety program.
“Kaylyn is a great asset to the Willoughby Leisure Swim School team, having developed her knowledge and skill from grass roots, through to competing at national swim events. She is always willing and happy to share her industry knowledge with the team, to the benefit of Swim School patrons,” said Debra Just, General Manager at Willoughby City Council.
Kaylyn will compete against other state finalists for the National Award, to be held on the Gold Coast, later this year.
