Tickets to the Willoughby Symphony’s highly anticipated 2017 season, Enduring Passion are officially on sale!
A six-concert odyssey of scintillating music experiences, Enduring Passion is set to be the Symphony’s biggest and best season yet. Led by internationally celebrated orchestral icon, Chief Conductor and Artistic Director, Dr. Nicholas Milton AM, the season offers a thrilling programme of beloved classics, modern delights, renowned guest soloists and the innovative works of Australian Composer-in-Residence, Daniel Rojas.
Further to the six-concert series, the Willoughby Symphony will perform four additional concerts throughout the year - the ever-popular baby proms concert, Mini Maestros: The Conductor and the Clown, beloved favourite Last Night of the Proms, and a spectacular end of year family concert, The Magic of Christmas.
GENIUS – A dazzling concert of masterworks by Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Brahms, under the baton of Chief Conductor and Artistic Director, Dr Nicholas Milton AM.
GLORY – 2017 Composer-in-Residence Daniel Rojas performs his intoxicating Latin Piano Concerto, followed by a bewitching performance of Fauré’s Pelléas and Mélisandre and Poulenc’s Gloria.
MIRACLE – Celebrated conductor Carolyn Watson leads the Orchestra and special guest star, virtuoso percussionist Claire Edwardes, in a glittering performance of works by Daniel Rojas, Haydn and Mendelssohn.
FANTASY – A blockbuster concert led by Dr. Nicholas Milton AM, featuring Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s glorious Scheherazade, followed by Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante and Glinka’s Ruslan and Ludmila Overture.
NATURE – The full Orchestra and Choir combines on stage to perform Smetana’s most enduring composition, The Moldau, featuring Vienna-based horn virtuoso, Hector McDonald.
TRIUMPH – The 2017 Season draws to a dramatic conclusion in this concert of unbridled passion, featuring special guest soloist Kristian Chong performing Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 3.
