Willoughby welcomes Year of the Monkey

Chinese New Year Festival 2016
Welcome in the Year of the Monkey at the annual Chinese New Year Festival, one of the largest Chinese New Year celebrations in Sydney, from 10am - 5pm, Saturday 13 February at Chatswood Mall and The Concourse, Victoria Avenue, Chatswood.
Hosted by Willoughby City Council and the Chinese Culture Centre NSW, the Festival will feature a welcome ceremony at 11am, followed by spectacular Dragon and Lion Dances at 11.25am in Chatswood Mall.
There will be live entertainment throughout the day from local community groups and performers. In Chatswood Mall, enjoy Kung Fu demonstrations, Cantonese Opera and performances by children’s dance groups. There will also be singing, performances with Chinese musical instruments and even a magic show!
At The Concourse, view the Chinese Cultural Art Exhibition in the Art Space, kids can enjoy the Kindy Farm and Humpty Sports activities, then end the day with more colourful Dragon and Lion Dances by Yau Kung Mun Chinese Martial Arts Academy at 4pm.
A variety of market stalls selling arts, craft and delicious Chinese food will line Chatswood Mall from 10am - 5pm against the backdrop of colourful New Year decorations.
“The Chinese New Year Festival is a key event in the Willoughby calendar, offering a wonderful opportunity for the entire community to come together and celebrate Chinese culture and tradition. I hope to see many of you at this year’s event,” said Willoughby Mayor, Gail Giles-Gidney.
