Support Local - Philosophy - 2024.jpg

Meet Alison Lennard, designer and owner of women’s fashion house Philosophy Australia. She and her Willoughby-based team create Australian-designed and produced womenswear which is sold by boutiques and directly to customers online.

Alison says

'Since moving to Willoughby 18 months ago we have very much felt at home in this area. I employ 14 people in-house, but we have around 80 contractors that work as our machinists, cutters and pressers to help us make the best possible garments.'

'We have wonderful local businesses right on our doorstep that we've been able to connect with and see daily on our coffee walks. I really enjoy the fact we're no longer in a business park. We’re based in a residential area and there’s a small playground opposite our warehouse, so we get to hear the children playing all day long which is lovely.’

'By shopping with Philosophy Australia, our customers help us shine a spotlight on the beautiful work that our local artisans can do. Made in Australia is something we should be proud of, and we hope that when people purchase from us, they have that wonderful feel good factor.'
