Shadow Play
Artist(s): Daniel Tobin
Year: 2003 (bronze piece) and 2009 (aluminium piece)
Materials: bronze and aluminium
Description: artist Daniel Tobin portrays Willoughby City as a place of commercial energy through a pair of sculptures at opposite ends of the development. To the north is bronze and to the south aluminium.
Willoughby City Council assisted Mirvac to select an artist to develop a design responding to 'a theme of the potential of the City as a place of commercial energy in the new millennium'.
The bronze sculpture emits a warm glow from the glass shards throughout the structure at night. During daylight the pattern of a tree is visible in the concrete paving surrounding the sculpture.
How to Find: the bronze sculpture is located in the Pacific Place forecourt on the corner of O'Brien Street and Railway Street. The aluminium sculpture is located near the Chatswood Interchange bus station, on the corner of Help Street and Cambridge Lane.
