Youth networks

Youth Services coordinate, lead and contribute to a range of networks that support young people in our community on a current needs basis.

Northern Sydney Youth Employment Network

Willoughby Youth Services created this group to address gaps in youth employment support (aged 15-24) across Northern Sydney. This group has grown and now includes over 30 youth employment support services including TAFE, Macquarie Uni and many more.

In 2020 we surveyed young people across North Sydney who identified five support needs: job skills, job opportunities, career conversations, access to youth employment support and awareness of workers rights. In our 2024 Youth Action Plan, being skilled and ready for employment was identified as a key theme among our young people’s concerns.

To support our young people we offer employment courses every school holidays that are 50% subsidised to support young people to access training and certifications. These have included first aid, youth mental health first aid, responsible service of alcohol, barista training and smartphone photography. Check our events page for upcoming courses.

Youth Opportunities Network

This network was designed to connect schools and home school parents with valuable information about exciting opportunities for young people. Whether it's educational programs, extracurricular activities, school holiday workshops or community events, the Youth Opportunities Network ensures you're always in the loop. Join us to discover and share opportunities that inspire, educate, and empower youth!
