GIRLGAMER Esports at Vivid Sydney at Chatswood

The GIRLGAMER Sydney Festival is an exciting and unique event celebrating the achievements of women in gaming, esports and industry. The Australian-first festival is part of Vivid Sydney and the Vivid Ideas program at Chatswood and runs for two days on Sunday 9th and Monday 10th of June.
The vibrant, energetic atmosphere of a large-scale esports event is expected to attract hundreds of people. Through lighting and design, The Concourse will transform to reflect the GIRLGAMER colours and the creative world of video games.
The live tournament will see players battle it out on stage, where they will compete in Overwatch, CS:GO and other popular titles. The festival also features keynote speakers from leading women in the industry, discussion panels, a careers alley, sponsor activations, cosplay competitions, and gaming zones from prominent brands. The event is designed to recognise talented women on a global platform, inspire players, and grow female participation in competitive esports.
Willoughby City Council Mayor Gail Giles-Gidney said the GIRLGAMER Festival brought an exciting element to the already stellar Vivid Sydney at Chatswood offering.
“Australians spent over $2.7 billion on video games last year, with 93% of households owning gaming devices, so we know that this will be popular with our audience, particularly young people,” she said.

The GIRLGAMER Sydney Festival is run by Critical Hit Entertainment partnered with Grow uP eSports, Evoloop and Metta Sport, with the support of Logitech G. The GIRLGAMER Festival is a global tour that kicked off in 2017 in Macau, China and travelled to Lisbon, Portugal in 2018. Winners of the 2019 Sydney tournament for CS:GO will receive an all-expenses paid trip to the GIRLGAMER World Final taking place later this year.
Vivid Sydney at Chatswood is run by Willoughby City Council and is supported by Chatswood Chase Sydney, Chatswood Interchange and Westfield Chatswood. The precinct is accessible, easily reached via public transport and there is local parking available. Vivid Sydney in Chatswood runs from 24 May to 15 June and is suitable for all ages and abilities.
