Mayor Tanya Taylor shares updates from the November 2024 Council meeting. The Council received the 2023/24 Annual Report, highlighting significant achievements and challenges, with 87% of planned activities completed. The draft 'Our Future Willoughby 2036' Community Strategic Plan was endorsed for public exhibition. Progress was made on the 21-year lease for Northbridge Golf Course. A Food Delivery Drivers’ Forum is planned for 2025 to address local challenges. The 'Try an Electric Bike Day' event was successful. Financial reports showed a $3.1 million surplus before capital grants and contributions.
The Council revised its Draft Community Engagement Policy and Strategy to include reference groups, a community voice panel, and four advisory committees focused on access and inclusion, integrated transport, bushland and heritage, and sustainability. The Community Engagement Policy was revised, and the location for the Marion Mahony Griffin sculpture was selected. The Grants for the Community Program was reviewed, increasing grant amounts and streamlining applications. Notable grants included $7,500 each for the Chatswood Chamber of Commerce and Chatswood Parish's "Carols in the Concourse" event.
