Neighbourhood Safer Places
Neighbourhood Safer Places (NSPs) are designated last-resort locations where people can shelter during a bushfire if evacuation is no longer possible. They are assessed by the NSW Rural Fire Service based on their ability to provide some protection from radiant heat and embers but do not guarantee safety. NSPs are not evacuation centres and do not offer food, water, or medical assistance. They are intended only for emergency refuge when all other options have been exhausted.
Below are locations of NSPs in the Willoughby Local Government Area (LGA):
Gore Hill Oval - 209 Pacific Hwy, St Leonards
Northbridge Plaza Carpark - Harden Avenue, Northbridge
Chatswood Park - 35 Orchard Rd, Chatswood
