About the artist
American born, Julia has been a local Willoughby Mum for over 12 years. Julia has her own home studio allowing this very busy mother of 3 to paint as much as possible. Julia explores the bittter sweet emotional landscape of mothering her children into adulthood particularly her significantly autistic son.
The passing of clouds serve as a powerful metaphor for this transition of dependence to independence. Julia has sold her work at the Affordable art fairs, been a finalist in the Mosman Art prize, Mosman Rowers, and Linden Art Gallery prizes. She has studied at Willoughby Arts Center & National Art School.
Before painting she has a long career in fashion in NYC and Sydney designing prints, lingerie and swimwear for Calvin Klein, Gap, Victoria Secret and Berlei. Many of her works have been on auction to raise funds for Giant Steps School where her son attends Giant Steps and flourishes with individualised attention.
