Artist: Wendy Qi Zhang, Limelight Academy
Sound designer: Aenigma

Projections nightly 6pm - 11pm

Bloom examines how our surroundings instil sensations and emotions. If man-made structures make us feel static, can absorbing the natural world that exists in our cities elicit a sense of rejuvenation?

Every spring, flowers unfurl to expose themselves. A vulnerability is revealed with opening oneself. Witnessing the cycle of growth pulls us from our own stagnation.

The Concourse will be illuminated with alien but familiar flora, encouraging you to connect with the surrounding environment. Just as the shifting of the seasons transforms the Sydney landscape, the artwork Bloom transforms the architecture of The Concourse. As spring begins, evolving patterns of colours and shapes emerge, with flowers unfurling to reveal their fullness.

Bloom explores the movement of spring and blossoming within the urban landscape, with themes of becoming and renewal. A surreal botanic dance of lush textures and vibrant colours will be projected in this video-audio experience.

The dynamic awakening of the natural world occurs against the geometric architecture of our man-made structures. The crescendo of the bloom reminds us of a renewing ecosystem, and that even in the built world we are part of this natural environment.
