Katie Lucy-Smith is a local self-taught artist who began painting six years ago. This is her second solo exhibition presenting a selection of her works.

Katie enjoys experimenting with new colour combinations, shapes and patterns, creating multi-layered works by exploring various mediums and mark techniques.

Katie has no shortage of inspiration painting recognisable real subjects or abstracts. She finds the curiosity and freedom of expression that comes with this creative process impossible to resist. Painting is a mindful and meditative practice for Katie and during COVID this was especially helpful.

Initially an auditory creative, Katie is an oboist studying at the NSW Conservatorium of Music, later working with many Australian orchestras: ABC Training, Sydney Symphony and Queensland Symphony to name a few. Katie has volunteered as a teacher’s aid and worked as musical therapist. Katie Lucy-Smith is a volunteer with Sydney U3A - Harbourside North.
