Tracy-Stirzaker-Artist-Head-Shot.jpg

Artist Tracy Stirzaker explores her journey of self-love, self-care and art with Q&A.

Inspiring and thought-provoking artist Tracy explores her life as a woman, mother, carer and artist.

"With art I feel I can express my emotions and I can get lost in the process of making – art is me time."

For many years Tracy has been the carer of family members on mental health journeys.  This has impacted her life and she has grown through this experience as a woman and as a carer.  Art is one way Tracy has explored her own journey and found space for herself.  Creating brings her comfort and joy.

About the Artist

Sydney based artist Tracy Stirzaker sees herself as an observer and critic of contemporary Australian society and is inspired by her lived experience. Employing painting and textiles techniques, Stirzaker uses the repetition of motifs in her artwork to explore the emotional body within the everyday constraints of social politics, cultural values and beliefs.

Tracy Stirzaker has exhibited regularly in group exhibitions. A finalist in both the Hunters Hill and the Ravenswood Women’s Art Prizes in 2018, Stirzaker had her first solo show at Gallery Lane Cove in 2018. Stirzaker had her 2nd solo show in 2019 at White Rhino Artspace, a gallery she cofounded and directed, in St Leonards.  After years doing local art classes Tracy Stirzaker pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts at UNSW Art & Design 2016.

This project More Myself – A Journey of Self Love was awarded a Willoughby Arts & Culture Grant in 2021 and is Tracy Stirzaker’s third solo art exhibition.
