Nurture Nature/Nature Nurtures is a participatory artwork that opens the exhibition Knitting is ...experimental.
Artist-maker Christine Wiltshier invites visitors to extend the notion of knitting as a form of nurturing to the plant world, by contributing to a new artwork entitled Nurture Nature/Nature Nurtures. Using the yarn wrapping segment of the knitting process participants are encouraged to (thoughtfully) wrap a selection of locally sourced plant materials, infusing this process with caring and protective thoughts and ideas for the local environment.
During the final day of the exhibition (Sunday 19 March) visitors will be invited to carefully unravel each wrapped piece to allow the plant material to be returned to the local area.
