Film Screening: The Inaccurate Perception of Lara Grace
Screening and Q&A with Filmmaker Natalia Stawyskyj
In partnership with Willoughby City Council, Two Shoes Films presents The Inaccurate Perception of Lara Grace. A short fictional film about 27 year old Lara Grace, a young woman who has developed disability as a teenager and how she revisits her younger self in an attempt to determine what is important to her. The film is a meditation on the complexity of identity and the spurious nature of online relationships. The film grapples with the issue of social connectedness in the digital age, and the changing and unchanging nature of youth and identity. Filmed within Willoughby City, this short film gives voice to the often unheard experience of developing a disability as a teenager.
Natalia Stawyskyj is an emerging filmmaker from Sydney, Australia. She wrote and directed The Inaccurate Perception of Lara Grace, which was funded by Willoughby City Council. Natalia’s writing has been published by The Sydney Morning Herald, amongst other publications, and has had her work awarded by Changing Face International Film Festival. She has studied at AFTRS and NYFA and completed mentorship programs through Script Central and Accessible Arts.
The film will be screened at the Dougherty Community Centre at 2pm, followed by a Q&A with the filmmaker. We encourage visitors to register as there will be limited capacity due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The Inaccurate Perception of Lara Grace is part of Generation R: A celebration of youth resilience in Willoughby and the North Shore.
