When do you need this?

When site excavation requires installation of temporary ground anchors under a public road or public open space.

What you need to know:

  • Permission will not be granted for ground anchors on State roads.
  • Only temporary ground anchors will be approved.
  • Ground anchors must be a minimum of 2 m below the road reserve.

Step 1.Fees and charges

  • Payment will be charged on lodgement for the application fee.
  • Additional usage fees will be charged during the assessment process, prior to issue of the permit.
  • Check Council's adopted fees and charges.

Step 2.What you will need to provide

  • Plans showing location and details of proposed ground anchors.
  • Details of total number of ground anchors proposed.
  • Proposed date of installation and number of weeks anchors will be in place.
  • Details of structural engineer responsible for design of works.
  • Structural engineering certificate.

Step 4.What happens next

You will receive an application reference number which you can use to track your application. 

You will also be notified once your application has been assessed and provided with details of additional fees to be paid or if additional information is required.
