Cortile Reserve

Cortile Reserve - Playground

Area: 2,015m²

The streets and reserves of Castlecrag were named by Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahoney Griffin in the 1930s. The names reflect the components of a castle: a cortile is a courtyard, usually internal, and in this reserve, refers to its location being surrounded by dwellings. The land was given to Council by Griffin’s company, the Greater Sydney Development Association Ltd in 1940.

Walk along the pathways off The Parapet to get to the reserve which is located behind houses in the Parapet and Edinburgh Road. The playground is next to the two tennis courts. It contains an emankment slide, spinner, custom cubby and timber lizard.

Garden beds were constructed and planted in 2011 to showcase locally native species.
