Trees on neighbouring property
Local Councils in NSW do not have the authority to compel pruning or removal of a tree that is impacting a neighbouring property.
If you have concerns about a tree located on an adjacent property, it is best to resolve this issue by having a friendly discussion with your neighbour and working with them to find a solution.
A permit may be required to prune or remove a tree. Information about when a permit is required is available online.
If your neighbour does not address your concerns, you may wish to seek help by contacting the Community Justice Centre (CJC) on 1800 990 777. The CJC provides a free service designed to support the resolution of disputes through mediation.
